Water is one of the essential things the body needs in order to survive. It can come in all shapes and forms from filtered water to tap water to boiling water. However, many people around the world today prefer to enjoy water in a bottle.

But what are the best bottled water brands exactly and how do I choose one? There are plenty of amazing bottled water brands that come from all corners of the world. Some of them are distinctly produced based off of the region that it comes from. Plenty of them use the natural environment to help produce some amazingly pure waters that are full of beneficial minerals and electrolytes.

From being produced in Europe and North America, bottled water is something to enjoy no matter how you choose to drink it and there are many bottled water brands to choose from.

Best Pick

Perrier Carbonated Mineral Water

The best bottled water brand is the Perrier Carbonated Mineral Water. Perrier has a stellar reputation worldwide for producing among the best waters and this one is no exception. This carbonated water does a great job at quenching thirst while adding a pop of fizz that many people love in sodas minus the excess sugar.

Budget Pick

Propel, Kiwi Strawberry, Zero Calorie Water

Bottled water drinkers shopping on a budget and want a bit of flavor in their water are advised to give the Propel, Kiwi Strawberry water a try. Full of terrific and light flavor, this water is great for people that are looking for a value purchase.

Quick Comparison: Top 10 Best Bottled Water Brands

One of the largest water brands in the world today is Perrier and it should come as no surprise that they are our best bottled water brand. Perrier has been producing the most refreshingly tasting water since 1863 and is produced in one of the countries in the world for natural water, France.

Perrier has a stable of different water products but we think their Carbonated Mineral Water is their best one, by far. While many people may not particularly enjoy a carbonated or fizzy water beverage, they have to try version by Perrier before excluding it.

Much like all of their other drinks, this Carbonated Mineral Water beverage is amazingly refreshing and will help to quench any thirst. It does contain carbonation or fizz but not to the point where your eyes tear up if you try and gulp it down. The carbonation is light and complements the water very well.

This Perrier Carbonated Mineral Water comes with their familiar green packaging, however, these bottles are made of plastic rather than the glass bottles that their customers are used to seeing. This Carbonated Mineral Water comes in a package of 24 bottles.

If you’re not a particular fan of plain-tasting carbonated water, Perrier also offers plenty of flavored carbonated water drinks. The most notable flavor is their Lime flavored carbonated water, which we tried and can confirm that it is a very smooth tasting flavored water beverage.

What we liked: we really enjoyed the freshness this Perrier Carbonated Mineral Water offers. We particularly enjoyed that the fizziness doesn’t completely overpower the water itself and it really just adds a very modest touch to the drink.

What we didn’t like: there’s nothing we don’t like about Perrier in general but we do wish that a package of their water didn’t come with so many bottles. 24 seems like a lot and it’s more than what we and maybe other people would like to pay for it. If it came in a pack of 6 that would be perfect.

If you’ve never ever heard of a bottled water brand called Propel, that’s okay. They have not yet fully established their name yet but they are connected with one of the world’s largest sports beverages in Gatorade. Propel is produced by the makers of Gatorade and offers people a very cost-friendly, bottled water option.

Much like their founders, Gatorade, Propel produces a beverage that comes in many different flavors. For this particular bottle of Propel water, it comes in a delicious, Kiwi Strawberry flavor. This helps to give the water an extra dimension of flavor that is very subtle and crisp.

Propel is a great alternative for people looking for a bottled water choice that isn’t just a still and unflavored one. As an added bonus, Propel’s water contains electrolytes and vitamins, which is exactly what many people are looking to replenish on after an intense workout.

Many people have said that Propel’s flavored water is better than Gatorade because it satisfies their thirst and does so in a way where it contains no added sugar in the beverage. One of the drawbacks of Gatorade can be how much sugar it contains but with Propel’s water, you simply won’t get any of that sugar.

This pack of Kiwi Strawberry Propel bottled water comes with 12 bottles with each bottle containing 24 fluid ounces of water. There are, of course, other flavors you can try as well but many people seem to prefer the Kiwi Strawberry one over the others.

What we liked: we really liked how well this bottle of water re-hydrated our body after a good cardio class. We were just happy to have an alternative to Gatorade as we aren’t fans of electrolyte-based drinks that come with tons of sugar in it.

What we didn’t like: one thing that could be better is the flavor could stand out a bit more or have more of it in the water itself. The flavor is very faint when you drink the water but the aftertaste remains in your mouth for awhile after.

San Pellegrino is an infamous water brand that has been an incredibly popular choice among bottled water drinkers for many decades. Over time, their brand has become synonymous with the highest of quality mineral water that is very refreshing to drink.

San Pellegrino’s water is made in Italy and is imported all the way to North America to give Westerners a try at some of the best water Europe has to offer. A package of this excellent bottled water comes with 12 bottles with each bottle amounting to 33.8 ounces of water. The end result is a water that is decidedly refreshing and crisp and is bound to quench any thirst.

Many people enjoy the well-balanced nature of San Pellegrino’s bottled water and, in particular, this Sparkling Water. It gives off ample amounts of carbonation or fizz in the water but without having it completely dominate the drink itself. It’s what some people call light in carbonation but high in overall water thirst satisfaction. Over-carbonation can often be an issue with many different sparkling water brands, but San Pellegrino has mastered the right balance in their bottled water.

This Sparkling Natural Mineral Water is so clear and fresh that it can be enjoyed in different ways, either to quench your thirst after a workout or even paired with your meals. As an all-natural water product, San Pellegrino does not add any artificial flavors or colors to this drink, nor does it contain any calories.

What we liked: it’s hard to find a bottled water brand that is able to strike the right balance between refreshing taste and carbonation levels but San Pellegrino has been able to do that with their Sparkling Natural Mineral Water for decades and it is a sheer delight to drink.

What we didn’t like: San Pellegrino is a bottled water brand that is a bit more for affluent tastes and if you don’t feel like paying top dollar for this bottled water brand, there are plenty of other affordable options out there.

For people who haven’t heard of CORE Hydration yet, we can’t say that we blame you. It’s a fairly obscure bottled water brand but, with the right exposure, will be able to prove to water drinkers that it is one of the premiere bottled water brands available today.

CORE Hydration takes the concept of adding nutrients to natural water to a new level and provides people with a premium water-drinking experience. Their bottled water comes in a sleek and contoured shaped bottle with curves along the sides. It’s capped off with a blue lid that protects the water bottle opening.

Each bottle contains 30.4 fluid ounces or approximately 900 milliliters of water. This is definitely much more than a regular bottle of water which usually tends to hold about 500 milliliters of water. This CORE Hydration bottled water pack comes with 12 bottles in total, with each bottle being BPA-free and 100% recyclable.

CORE Hydration’s water comes enhanced with nutrients in it and promotes proper hydration through these nutrients. The water in these bottles are purified to the highest level and contains beneficial electrolytes and minerals to re-hydrate your body after a long and exhaustive workout.

It doesn’t contain any particular harmful minerals or particles that can often come with waters that produce minerals. Many people say that the taste of this water is very refreshing and they do see a noticeable difference in their hydration levels between drinking this bottle of water when compared with a regular bottle of water in terms of how they feel an hour later.

What we liked: we really enjoyed the total experience with CORE Hydration’s bottled water. From the unique and comfortable to hold water bottle to the refreshingly cool and clean taste of their water, it truly was a premium experience.

What we didn’t like: this product is, relatively-speaking, very expensive when compared on a cost per milliliter basis with other bottled water brands. However, since it offers a high-end water-drinking experience, the price may be justified to give it a shot.

If you’ve ever wondered if you’ve seen the brand name Nestle before, it’s probably because you have. However, the catch here is that you probably have seen them on some sort of chocolate packaging or some other form of sweets and not on a bottle of water. To your surprise, you should probably know that Nestle makes one of the best purified bottles of water out there today.

The Nestle Pure Life Purified Water is one of the best and cost-friendly bottled water choices for everyday people. It is fairly priced and you get very good quality, purified water that is safe and healthy to drink. There really is no gimmicks or frills in this water and no, you won’t find any of their infamous sweets or any extra sugars in this drink either. There’s also no sweeteners or any other additives.

Each bottle of this Nestle Purified Water comes in a 500 milliliter plastic and recyclable bottle. In the entire pack, you’ll get 24 bottles of water. With this Nestle Purified Water, 24 bottles in a pack allows you to stock up on bottled water in your house or even at work. As we mentioned, it comes at a very affordable and fair price and should definitely be considered as your go-to, plain and purified water choice.

For people that either aren’t fans of flavored water or sparkling water, then still water is likely their best choice. Many people simply prefer fresh and original tasting water that has gone through a rigorous process to ensure that it is 100% completely safe to drink.

What we liked: this is one of our favorite still water bottle brands because it offers fantastic value and smooth and clear tasting water that we love so much. Sparkling and flavored water is nice to drink sometimes but we will always prefer to drink natural and purified water.

What we didn’t like: there really isn’t anything we didn’t like about this water. It tasted the way it said it was going to taste and comes at such an affordable price that it would be hard to find a better rounded value choice for purified water.

Go ahead, ask anyone if they have ever heard or seen the evian Natural Spring Water bottle before and we guarantee you that most people have. It is one of the more familiar and iconic bottled water brands around and has withstood the test of time thanks to its unique taste of Natural Spring Water.

Evian Water is one of the oldest bottled water brands in the world and they have been producing bottled water for over 150 years. Their Natural Spring Water comes all the way from the French alps and contains a balanced mixture of minerals and electrolytes that give it its unique and distinct taste. Their Spring Water formula is one that has been tried and tested over the decades and is one of the better still water beverages to rehydrate with and replenish electrolytes.

As one of the more dependable bottled water brands in the world, evian has committed to protecting the environment and planet by packaging their water in recyclable plastic bottles. As such, they are easy to carry around with you to work or your workouts.

Each bottle of evian Natural Spring Water contains 33.8 fluid ounces of one liter. These one liter bottles of water can be purchased in packs of twelve starting with twelve and going as high as 48 bottles.

What we liked: we absolutely love the one liter sized bottles. It definitely goes against what many bottles of water contain which is roughly 500-600 milliliters and it is nice to have an option where you get more water per bottle as it also helps to cut down on plastic waste.

What we didn’t like: one of the things evian’s Natural Spring Water is known for is having this funky taste to their water. We think nothing of it but we also realize that it may not be for everyone and it is probably one of evian’s biggest complaints about their water.

You probably already know that some of the best bottled water brands come from familiar European countries like France, Italy, and Switzerland. But, you might also be surprised to find out that the tiny, European island country of Iceland also produces some excellent bottled water with the Icelandic Glacial Natural Spring Alkaline Water.

This Natural Spring Alkaline Water is produced in an Icelandic spring called Ölfus Spring. There, the water is highly regarded as very pure as it naturally contains a very low mineral count but also does not get mixed in with harmful contaminants, such as heavy metals. Thus, the end result is a water that really is pure to the core and contains beneficial minerals.

For many people, this water tastes impeccably fresh and it is considered a Natural Alkaline Water drink thanks to its natural alkaline level that is measured by a pH level of 8.4. since it is naturally alkaline and contains non-harmful minerals, this bottle of Icelandic water will refreshingly rehydrate the body.

While this Natural Spring Alkaline Water is known for its plain or still flavor, Icelandic Glacial also does offer a few other Spring Water options that come in different flavors such as Elderflower, Lime, and Lemon.

What we liked: we liked the cool taste of this Spring Alkaline Water. We were hesitant to try it at first simply because we had never ever heard of it before but we were blown away by how smooth and crisp this bottle of water was.

What we didn’t like: since it is a bottle of water that doesn’t have much a reputation in North America just yet, it can definitely be very hard to get your hands on this in North America and, in some cases, you’ll have to pay a premium to get a pack of this bottle of Icelandic water

Italy is another hotbed country that produces some of the best bottled water in the world. For many North Americans, Acqua Panna Natural Spring Water may be a bottled water brand they’ve never heard of before but in Europe, it is a very popular brand that truly deserves its reputation.

Acqua Panna Natural Spring Water has a history that dates all the way back to 1564 where the water was first produced in the Tuscan region of Italy. In this region, it has been identified as the primary spot for bottled water production thanks to its unique blend of an invigorating taste of fresh water that contains beneficial minerals.

Many people have said that this Natural Spring Water pairs well with any meal or can be enjoyed to cool off the body on a hot, summer day. As for its taste, people say it is very light and easy to drink. Some even say that the water has a velvety texture to it, which may not be something that all water drinkers will enjoy.

Despite being popular in Europe, Acqua Panna Natural Spring Water is available in North America and is imported directly from Italy. Each bottle of Acqua Panna water comes in a 500 milliliter plastic bottle, that is BPA-free and 100% recyclable. It comes in a pack of 24 bottles and you can purchase it in quantities of 24, 48, and 72 bottles.

What we liked: we enjoyed the mass quantity each package this Acqua Panna water comes in. We felt like we got good value on a pack of 24 bottles and each water bottle comes with the right amount of water.

What we didn’t like: that velvety texture we mentioned earlier can be a bit of a turnoff when drinking it, especially when you’re not having any food or wine with it. On its own, this velvety texture can almost taste like plastic.

No matter where you live in the world, there’s likely a really good chance you’ve come across the VOSS brand before. Years ago, they were known for their outlandish and rather heavy water bottles made of a glass-like material. However, they have come a long way since then to still produce an ultra-premium water experience with their VOSS Artesian Still Water.

VOSS no longer uses glass bottles but rather, they use high-quality, polyethylene terephthalate (PET) materials, which is a type of polyester molded into the shape of a bottle. This is obviously much more environmentally friendly and are BPA-free. Thus, it may look and even feel like a glass bottle but it isn’t, yet it still keeps its premium feel and branding on the bottle itself. It also looks deceptively heavy but each bottle is actually fairly light and comes with an airtight, re-sealable lid to keep your water fresh.

VOSS Artesian Still Water is produced and packaged in another European country, this time it is Norway. It is produced in the Southern Norway region in an aquifer deep underground. It is there where VOSS’ pure and natural water emanates from. A package of this premium VOSS Artesian Still Water comes in a pack of 24 bottles with each bottle only containing 330 milliliters of water.

What we liked: VOSS still very much produces a water-drinking experience like none other. Its bottles and lids are different from any other brand and because of this, it definitely makes it the most unique water-drinking experience.

What we didn’t like: there are two things in particular we didn’t like. The first is that its price is still exorbitantly high for really water that can be found in any other water bottle. Secondly, 330 milliliters per bottle just doesn’t feel right and oftentimes, we were left wanting more. We feel that it should at least be 500 milliliters.

Don’t be fooled by the name by the name of this bottled water brand. Despite its name, this bottled water is not European nor is it made in Poland. Rather, it is freshly produced in Maine, United States.

You wouldn’t think of Maine to be a big producer of Spring water but this water is derived from the vast and lush Maine forests. Coming from a 10,000-year old glacial sand, this spring water emanates from it and with it, comes a well balanced and all pure and natural spring water.

Poland Spring Origin has a clean and refreshing taste and comes packed with all-natural electrolytes. Many people say that this water is great to have in the morning or after a long and exhaustive workout because it helps to replenish all of the electrolytes lost during both activities.

Each bottle of Poland Spring Origin comes in an awkwardly numbered 900 milliliters, that can often seem like it’s too much water and leaves you wondering why they didn’t just round up the bottle to a full liter. In any event, each pack of this Spring water comes with 12 bottles in bottles that are made from recycled plastic.

What we liked: we love the natural and pure taste of this spring water. If you’re looking for straight up, clean and pure tasting spring water this is it for you. It doesn’t come with any funky taste either that can leave you with a terrible aftertaste. The bottle is also very strong and durable for a plastic water bottle, despite being made of recyclable plastic.

What we didn’t like: we kind of alluded to this already but it’s just a really awkward and clumsy looking size for a water bottle. 900 milliliters is plenty of water but it also seems too much. On top of that, since you’re getting quite a bit of water in one bottle, the bottle itself is a bit uncomfortable to hold since it doesn’t have any rivets for your hand.

Founded in 2012, Waiakea Hawaiian Volcanic Water is another unique and interesting bottled water brand. What makes it so distinct is the fact that it’s advertised as “Volcanic Water” which can be a bit unsettling for some people. But, have no fear, as this Volcanic Water is not as bad as it sounds and is actually the most popular bottled water brand in Hawaii.

Waiakea Hawaiian Volcanic Water is produced from both snow and rain atop one of Hawaii’s active volcanos, the Mauna Loa volcano. The water is filtered down nearly 15,000 feet of volcanic rock. Along its journey down this long mountain, the water picks up valuable minerals and electrolytes. It is said that water produced here is one of the best environments in the world to produce fresh water.

This Hawaiian Volcanic Water is naturally alkaline and has a pH of 8.2. It does not use any artificial enhancers in their water and so you get nothing but pure volcanic water from this bottle. Speaking of the bottle, Waiakea takes great responsibility in producing a sustainable environment and uses a BPA-free, recycled plastic material as their bottle’s packaging. Waiakea also takes it one step further and donates a portion of their proceeds to Africa in the form of clean water supply.

A pack of this distinctly Hawaiian bottled water comes with 12 bottles with each bottle being a hefty one liter.

What we liked: on top of their excellent bottled water that is crisp and smooth, we really love everything that Waiakea stands for. We appreciate their lovely and creative branding on these carefully recycled plastic bottles and we also love the fact that they practice what they preach and give back to communities that don’t have access to clean drinking water.

What we didn’t like: unfortunately, the price of this water bottle brand is quite exorbitant and that’s likely because they have to ship it all the way from Hawaii.

Things to Consider Before Buying the Best Bottled Water Brands

Type of Water

There are many types of different waters that the best bottled water brands produce, as not all of them are the same. Quite frankly, many of them are unique in their own right (i.e. Volcanic Water). Here is a brief breakdown of some of the different types of water these water brands can produce.

Still or natural water is any sort of bottled water that is produced that either doesn’t have any additives in the water in the form of flavors or it doesn’t have any carbonation in it. If you were to sip this type of water, it would be similar to drinking clean tap water. This type of water can take form under many different names including the aforementioned Volcanic Water, but also Spring Water and Mineral Water. These types of water will often include some healthy minerals in them and some will even contain electrolytes.

Sparkling or carbonated water is another type of water that is popular among a large segment of water drinkers. As the name implies, this type of water offers some carbonation or fizz so that each sip comes with a bite, so to speak. This type of water is popular for people that love the taste of fizzy sodas but don’t want the added sugar contents.

Flavored water is something that has really emerged over the last few years as a new alternative to drinking still water, which is unflavored. Flavored water can come in various flavors and offers water drinkers a bit more depth in terms of the taste of water. These flavors are usually very mild but are noticeable enough when people drink this type of water. This type of water is particularly good for people that don’t enjoy the taste of plain water.

Where the Water is From

Where the water is from is another big factor that determines the reputation of a bottled water brand. Many of the best brands produce their water in Europe. Some of the more notable countries to produce excellent bottled water include France, Italy, Switzerland, and even Iceland!

The United States also has a few states that produce great bottled water and they may be states you wouldn’t typically think of being a big producer of fresh, natural water. These states are Maine and Hawaii.

How Much Water You Get in a Bottle

Every bottled water brand offers a different amount of water in their bottles. There typically is no standard when it comes to how much water you get in a bottle either. It can range from as little as 330 milliliters to as much as one liter (1000 milliliters) per bottle.

Clearly, the less the amount of water, the easier it is to carry around with you and to hold in your hand as your drink. Some bottles that contain one liter of water can be awkward to both hold and drink from. Ultimately, it depends on your needs and what you find to be preferable for you in terms of how much water is right for you in each bottle.

Flavor

We mentioned earlier that some bottled water today includes flavors. This can be a popular choice for some people as it gives them something to taste instead of tasting nothing. Flavors in bottled water can range from singular, fruity flavors to flavors that include a medley of different fruits or ingredients.

The one thing you should check out before purchasing a flavored bottle of water is the sugar content. Some bottles will include a small amount of sugar, whereas there are some that say they don’t include any sugar but might contain an additive or artificial flavoring instead.

Final Thoughts

Whether you love drinking bottled water with your meals, after a workout, or just to sip on to rehydrate yourself throughout the day, bottled water is one of those timeless, refreshingly cool drinks that is soothing to drink. It’s healthy to drink on an everyday basis and can be reinvigorating for some people.

Whether you prefer one of the best bottled water brands from Europe or North America, just know that at the end of the day, they all serve the same purpose, which is to ensure that you stay hydrated and that your body has the necessary amounts of water it needs in a day to function optimally.
