How can a simple rectangular pan be so confusing? Bread loaf pans are a simple rectangular shaped kitchen utensil used for normally baking loaves of bread but can be used for other purposes like baking cakes.  One of the advantages of having a narrow rectangular shaped pan is the fact that the bread or what you are baking can be sliced uniformly because of the shape. But there are various types of bread pans starting from aluminum, ceramic to cast iron. And different materials have its own unique features. That is why it is very important to understand and know of what to use depending on what you want to bake. Over here we have selected some of the best bread loaf pans that are available on the market.

Things to Consider Before Buying Bread Loaf Pans

1. Material

Different materials used for constructing the loaf pans can have different results on your food that you are baking. Loaf pans can be made from aluminized steel to cast iron and ceramic as well.  It is also worth mentioning that different materials have their own unique features; hence knowing what you want will give you an idea of what type of pan you are going to go for.

2. Sizes

When cooking and especially baking, measurements are very important. Loaf pans can come in various sizes and shapes. And when it comes to baking, the shape and size of your tray and in case pan will be the size and shape of your baked good. Hence knowing the sizes are a key factor here.

Even though this feature, too is a personal preference and there is no ideal size for a bread loaf pan but size of 9’’x5’’x2.5’’ inches fall within the standard range. Pans that are narrower will give you a taller loaf that will have a dome shape. On the other hand, a wider pan will result in a sloppy bread loaf which is not desired by most people.

3. Heat Conduction

For your bread to be baked to perfection and reach the perfect browning, it is always wise to go for pans that maintain uniform heat distribution. This will ensure perfect browning of your bread with no undercooked-overcooked areas and a perfect brown flaky crust.

4. Handle

Handles are an essential feature that you should look for in your choice of bread loaf pan as they can reduce the handling risks by a great deal. This way you can not only save your hands from burning but also prevent your mitts from touching the batter. A good grip is also required when taking out hot pans from the oven.

5. Cleaning procedure

Cleaning can be considered as one of the most tedious jobs in the kitchen and it can get quite frustrating when you have to scrub off stubborn residues. This can be pretty time-consuming as well and can be difficult to do when you have a busy schedule. This is why you choose the non-stick options which are easy to clean and are hassle-free. They will not deform the cake and they release effortlessly and quickly.

Moreover, the ones who barely can allocate enough time for handwashing their dishes will need to go for one that is dishwasher-friendly. This way they can wash their bread loaf pans with their regular utensils.

6. Color

As silly as it may sound, the color of the pan can actually be an important factor while choosing the right bread loaf pan. The color is not for the eyes but it can be a deciding factor in whether your bread will cook faster or will take time. This is because darker colors are more heat absorbent and will heat up faster than lighter colors which reflect heat. This allows quick heating and will in turn contribute to energy consumption.

7. Texture

Texture in pans is important as they help in maintaining good air circulation. Corrugated surfaces not only have good air circulation but also can help with maintaining even heat distribution so this factor should also be looked into.

1. Amazon Basics Nonstick Baking Bread Loaf Pan

The first product that we will be reviewing today is from AmazonBasics which comes in a set of 2 rectangular-shaped pans and is constructed from heavy-duty durable carbon steel that boosts their durability and gives them their added strength.

The heavy-weight raw material is not only effective when it comes to increasing its service life but also the way it reduces the energy consumption by decreasing the baking time is incredible. The baking time is decreased due to the carbon steel body being capable of ensuring even heat distribution that leaves no cold-hot spots.

Apart from being durable, the pans are oven safe up to 500 degrees Fahrenheit and will not warp or dent when exposed to such high temperatures. Moreover, the nonstick coating that the pans feature helps with both food release and easy cleanup. You will not require to use any additional cooking oil to make it non stick making this a healthier choice.
